Around the hotel

There are many historical temples and shrines within walking distance from the station, such as Higashi Honganji Temple and Toji Temple, so you can experience the history of Kyoto to the fullest just by visiting the area around the hotel.
At Toji Temple, you can see the five-story pagoda, a national treasure and the tallest wooden structure in Japan, and at Tofukuji Temple, you can see the Sanmon Gate, the largest and oldest national treasure in Japan.

The area around Hanamikoji Street in Gion is lined with ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants) where you can enjoy Kyoto-style cuisine and famous Kyoto sweets stores where you can enjoy the atmosphere and taste of Kyoto.

A must-see is the "Senbon Torii," a long stretch of vermilion torii gates dedicated by believers.

Byodoin was once the villa of Fujiwara no Michinaga, but his son, Fujiwara no Yorimichi, converted it into a temple in 1053. Byodoin is located in Uji City, which is very famous for its green tea, and you should not miss the delicious green tea sweets when you visit the area.
